So What Does it Cost?
We have a bootstrap mentality when it comes to opening a new location. That means we want you to keep your costs low to help you be successful.
Startup costs are approximately $2500 and your monthly expenses are around $500. These figures are approximate based on current locations, your expenses may vary. The breakdown is below:
Initial Registration Fee: This is a one time registration and set-up fee paid to U.S. Martial Arts. After paying this fee you will receive a webpage, Facebook Page, and our entire U.S. Martial Arts Business in a Box. You will have everything you need to get your business set up and ready to go.
Liability Insurance: Each location must carry a $1 Million dollar Liability Insurance Policy. We have a few different companies that we recommend. If you pay this yearly instead of monthly it costs approximately $500 per year for a new school.
USMA Membership: This monthly fee covers website maintenance, marketing updates, instructor conference calls, email and phone support, and more. This monthly fee is required in order to operate a U.S. Martial Arts location.
Training Equipment: Training equipment varies depending on the number of students you have. A Power Shield, Hand Targets, Cones, Ladder, and Instructor Uniform are the basics that you will need.
Facility Rent: We prefer to start locations in local elementary and middle schools. This is a large part of the success of our program. These facilities are extremely inexpensive to rent when compared to a commercial lease, heat, electric, garbage, maintenance, etc. Rent will certainly vary by location but the prices above are the average. By keeping fixed costs low, our schools have a much higher success rate than commercial martial arts schools.
Initial Marketing Costs: Marketing is a cost that can vary greatly. Once you join our program you will see first hand how we market our schools. We have a very unique marketing program for our school owners and we don’t share it publicly, sorry. We do have a proven method of getting students and keeping our locations busy.
Total Start Up Cost Breakdown: It’s always good to have more cash available than not enough, but that’s not always possible. Below is an initial cost Breakdown based on having 3 months worth of capital:
Initial Registration Fee: $499
Liability Insurance (3 months): $237
USMA Membership (3 months): $297

Our Competition
We are so confident of our business model, market approach, and teaching system, we have listed the links to our competitors below. The average cost to open a commercial martial arts school is $100,000. With such high start-up costs, expensive long term leases, and high monthly costs, it’s no wonder so many martial arts schools fail in their first five years. This is where we are different, way different!
